PLICSMOBILE in two versions/models
"When cable connections are too expensive and complex or information from mobile system components has to be transmitted, the only true solution is: "Wireless data exchange via radio link."
For a number of years already VEGA has been offering solutions with PLICSRADIO for wireless communication for the local area. PLICSMOBILE now encompasses applications for remote areas or for worldwide remote data transmission as well. Whether as a compact unit consisting of sensor and radio module or mounted in an external housing, PLICSMOBILE can perform wireless, global communication quickly, uncomplicatedly and cost-effectively. This proves to be of especially great advantage when existing measuring points are to be equipped for remote diagnosis and maintenance.
Integrated version PLICSMOBILE
Compact: Sensor with built-in radio unit
With the integrated, i.e. compact version, the mobile radio unit PLICSMOBILE is installed directly in the sensor electronics housing. All sensors are available with a double-chamber housing in which the mobile radio unit PLICSMOBILE can be accommodated (in the second chamber). This version lends itself well for situations in which power can be supplied via a power supply unit or an external battery (for long operating periods). These are usually stationary applications like river or reservoir level measuring points, waste oil gathering points or deep wells.
The sensor electronics itself can then be supplied directly by the PLICSMOBILE unit. In addition to the mobile radio unit, PLICSMOBILE has a power supply module that can provide a suitable supply voltage for the sensor electronics. This module is also responsible for the intelligent energy management during battery operation (external and integrated). The sensor electronics can also be supplied directly from a 4 - 20 mA/HART current loop or a Profibus PA or Foundation Fieldbus branch. Measured values can thus be processed e.g. in a control unit (access via 4 -20 mA/HART, Profibus PA or Foundation Fieldbus FF) and at the same time made available to a central evaluation system, e.g. WEB-VV.
Summary
- Radio unit integrated in sensor housing
- Suitable for all plics®plus sensors
- Measurement data can be transmitted via cable and/or wirelessly
- Suitable for all electronics (HART, Profibus PA and Foundation Fieldbus)
External version PLICSMOBILE T 61
Separated: Sensor with radio unit as external version
With the external version PLICSMOBILE T61, the mobile radio unit PLICSMOBILE is installed in a separate housing and connected via cable to any standard sensor (plics® or plics®plus). A double chamber housing is also used with this version.
As described in the case of the compact version, the mobile radio unit PLICSMOBILE is mounted in one of the chambers. A battery or an accumulator is mounted in the other chamber. This version lends itself well for applications in which no long periods have to be bridged with battery operation. This is the case with mobile transport silos, for example. During use at construction sites they are connected to mixer facilities and regularly supplied with external power.
In addition to the abovementioned module for provision of the sensor supply voltage, PLICSMOBIL is equipped with a suitable charging circuit for recharging the internal accumulator. With this integrated battery, both the PLICSMOBILE and the externally connected, separate sensor can be supplied with power. However, the external sensor can also be supplied directly by a 4 ... 20 mA current loop or a Profibus PA or Foundation Fieldbus branch. This version therefore lends itself well as a retrofit for remote transmission.
The external version is also excellently suited for purposes of remote diagnosis, maintenance and parameterisation within the context of asset management. Necessary servicing and diagnosis activities can be performed without having to disturb the process measurement loop (4 ... 20 mA HART, Profibus PA or FF).
Summary
- Radio unit in external housing
- Suitable for all plics® and plics®plus sensors
- Simple retrofitting in existing systems
- Optional accumulator or battery pack as power supply for radio unit and sensor
- Integrated energy management for long operating periods
- Suitable for all electronics (HART, Profibus PA and Foundation Fieldbus)
