Point level detection in a plastic container
Application
The microwave barrier is ideal for non-contact level detection in plastic containers: microwaves can easily penetrate all common plastic materials. There are restrictions only with containers with a conductive coating. The instruments are attached to the outside of the container, which avoids any contact with the medium. They detect the limit level reliably and independently of product composition. In case of very expensive products, positioning the sensors vertically enables detection of the last remnant of liquid on the container floor.
Advantages
- Non-contact measurement from outside
- Virtually independent of product composition
- Installation of several sensors in one container possible
- Maintenance-free operation
Point level detection in transport containers
Application
The microwave barrier is ideal for point level monitoring in plastic transport containers because it doesn’t have to be fastened to the container.
The container is placed between transmitter and receiver. The microwave barrier signals when the defined level is reached.
If a continuous level measurement is required, a radar sensor, e.g. VEGAPULS 61, can be deployed. The radar signal also penetrates the container wall.
Advantages
- Non-contact, no opening in container required
- Simple removal of the transport container
Bulk Solids
Monitoring of conveyor belt transfer points
Application
A typical application for the microwave barrier is level detection at conveyor belt transfer points. The sensors operate independently of medium properties and switch reliably if the product backs up at a belt transfer point.
The sensor is mounted directly on the belt system or behind a protective window, depending on the medium.
Advantages
- Wear-free measurement
Independent of material moisture content
- Maintenance-free operation
Monitoring in the stone crusher
Application
In addition to the continuous level measurement in the stone crusher, e.g. by a radar sensor, the microwave barrier serves as a reliable level detector. Level detection with VEGAMIP is certain – even in the presence of dust, noise and heavy, abrasive rocks. The non-contact measuring system is not impaired by strong vibrations or damaged by the rocks. This guarantees a minimum of wear and optimal production throughput.
Advantages
- Wear-free measurement
- Independent of medium properties
- Robust and maintenance-free
Level detection in the wood chip silo
Application
The microwave barrier is the ideal measuring principle for level detection of wood chips: the sensor doesn’t project into the container and therefore avoids malfunctions due to deposits on the sensor element.
Even when the antenna system is soiled or strong dust generation occurs, VEGAMIP detects the level reliably and accurately.
Advantages
- Insensitive to soiling and baked-on deposits
- Independent of material moisture content and consistency
Point level monitoring in the coal bunker
Application
The non-contact measuring principle is also the ideal solution for level detection of coal. Completely unaffected by the often extreme dust generation and the medium properties, VEGAMIP signals the limit level reliably. VEGAMIP 61 can be used as full and empty sensor.
Advantages
- Wear-free measurement
- Independent of product composition
- Installation of several sensors in one shaft possible
- Maintenance-free operation
Conveyor belt
Application
The microwave barrier can also be used for conveyor belt monitoring. VEGAMIP detects with certainty whether there is product on the belt, even if the product properties are constantly changing. The sensor, which is mounted under the belt, can be protected from heavy soiling or damage to the antenna system by a diagonally mounted plastic disk.
Advantages
- Non-contact and wear-free
- Independent of product composition
- Measurement through the conveyor belt
Point level monitoring in the feed shaft
Application
The feed shaft of a waste incineration vessel must always be completely full to prevent air from getting in. To ensure this, the filling is usually monitored with multiple microwave barriers. They are independent of product composition and operate totally wear and maintenance free.
Advantages
- Wear-free measurement
- Independent of product composition
- Installation of several sensors in one shaft possible
- Maintenance-free operation
Point level monitoring of bigbags
Application
The microwave barrier is ideal for non-contact level detection in bigbags. The bigbag is placed between transmitter and receiver.
The microwave barrier signals when the defined level is reached.
Advantages
- Non-contact measurement
- Simple removal of the bigbag
Point level monitoring in the lime kiln
Application
The microwave barrier detects the limit level in the lime kiln independently of the process temperature and the intense dust generation. Measurement is carried out from the outside directly through the fire-proof lining of the kiln. VEGAMIP 61 is thus completely unaffected by the process temperature.
Advantages
- Contactless and wear free
- Robust and maintenance free
- Independent of temperature and strong dust generation
Object monitoring
Position detection of ships in a lock
Application
The microwave barrier can be used for recognition of incoming and outgoing ships in a lock. The measurement is independent of weather conditions like fog, rain or snowfall. Thanks to the metal housing with protection rating IP 68, the sensor can be immersed in water with no problem.
Advantages
- Independent of ambient influences
- Application of several sensors possible
Position detection of vehicles
Application
The microwave barrier detects objects like vehicles, trains or crane systems reliably and signals their presence. The measurement is independent of ambient influencing factors such as dust, fog, rain or snowfall. Due to the low transmitting power, people in the area are not endangered by the microwave radiation.
Advantages
- Independent of different ambient influences
- Simple implementation of several sensors possible
- Maintenance-free operation
